Having sacred space with the Women of Resistance in Brooklyn (RnB)’s creative team for their 24th Annual Poetry and Performance event was such a pleasure. TS performed original work alongside Cheryl Wright, Rivka Rivera, and many other talented Brooklyn artists. Proceeds from this event supported the NYC Emergency Committee for Rojava: Kurdish Women’s Movement!

July 2019 – TS Hawkins was an Artist-in-Residence for Theatre Exile’s “Out of Exile” educational program. This program was geared towards residents of South Philadelphia in order to foster togetherness through monologue building, poetry, and playwriting. Under TS’ tutelage, youth participants at Hawthorne Cultural Center created communal poetry that may be featured during Exile’s summer show!

Rounding out July, TS Hawkins was awarded the Jilline Ringle Solo Performance Residency at 1812 Productions. Each year, the Jilline Ringle Solo Performance Program hosts a residency for artists at the 1812 Productions Studio. Two to three solo artists and a collaborator or mentor of their choice will be in residence, as well as program representatives from the Jilline Ringle Solo Performance Program Advisory Board. The focus of the residency is the development of a solo piece already in progress. TS will be expanding upon They’ll Neglect to Tell You; a piece that was drafted by TS in 2015 as part of the Souls of Black Folk Project at the Painted Bride.

August 2019 – TS Hawkins is slated to conduct Playwrighting/Monologue Workshop for a group of teens at the August Wilson Consortium. #StayTuned
